About Difficulty...
H-Venture II will have a 16-bit MD game inspired options menu instead of the original Megamix Engine's options menu. Among the standard settings, like editing the keybinds and volume stuff, there is also a Difficulty option that alters the difficulty of the game.
H-Venture II will have three difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, and Hard, as well as optional Dynamic and Free game modes. Each difficulty will affect how much damage the enemies will deal damage to H, the rate of how fast your Elemental Energy depletes when using an H-Element, and the amount of checkpoints the stages have.
Easy Mode: The damage multiplier is a bit tame, where enemies deal 70% of the usual damage to H, as well as 80% health. H's Elemental Energy depletes a little slower than usual. Also there is eight checkpoints per level (This means that you can at least replay some of the level, but not too long, in order to retry hard sections).
Normal Mode: The damage multiplier is just your standard 100% damage and health multiplier. H's Elemental Energy depletes at a normal rate. And there is six checkpoints per level (There are still some checkpoints in some areas that will not let you replay long sections of the level in order to retry hard sections).
Hard Mode: The damage multiplier is increased from normal mode, where enemies now deal 150% damage to H, as well as having 120% of their normal health. H's Elemental Energy now depletes faster than usual, making saving them for tough sections or bosses a must. There are four checkpoints in a level now, which will make you have to replay long parts of the level to get another chance at a tough part of a section before the next checkpoint.
Enable Dynamic Mode: If Enable Dynamic Mode is turned on, the enemies and bosses damage and health increases as you advance through the game. That means as the more you advance in the story, the more tougher the enemies will be.
Enable Free Mode: If Enable Free Mode is turned on, you can be able to select from Acts 2 ~ 5 after completing the first act. The selection is inspired by Thunder Force 3 and 4 by Technosoft. This is a selection when starting a new Adventure File, meaning it's a one time deal. There will be slight altercations in some cutscenes to reflect those changes.
And finally, a tip: When you enable Dynamic Mode, the changes will reflect this setting by changing difficulty to "Dynamic Easy/Normal/Hard".
These difficulties and altercation modes will allow the player to adapt to their skills, from a casual to a hardcore gamer.
