The Game Engine used to make this game
So, you want to know what game engine and tools I use to develop this game? Then this post here will tell you about it!
The Game Engine
The game engine used to make H-Venture II is Game Maker Studio 1.4. Even though it's not a GMS2 game, this engine has all of the features that the modern GMS has, except a bit older. This is due to the program below that is made with this. Basically, you can code your own game using GML or Drag and Drop, and soon enough gain enough skills to actually make high end games.
The Megamix Engine
The program I use in this game I'm making is called the Megamix Engine. This software allows you to make your very own Mega Man fangames, and comes with a wide amount of content from Megaman 1 to 11, as well as other games as well! It's also simple and easy to use, as long as you learn the basics that is covered in the tutorial. I use a fork of the engine called the Episode Zero devkit, that allows you to make a game starring Zero from the MAGMML series, and was used in MAGMML Episode Zero.
The Art Program
I also have an art program to help me aid in my artwork in the game, called Kirita. This is a free and open source painting program with a lot of features like a multitude of brushes, adjustable sheet size and layers, animation tools, texture packs, and a whole lot more. Besides drawing in my sketchbook, I also use this program to transfer my sketches to digital artwork that is used in this game, such as title cards.
I will also use Aseprite for sprite art as well. This is an art program well known for making pixel art, which can be used for many things like 2d animation or making sprites for 2D game design. I will use this to create the new sprites for this game, such as the characters, enemies, pickups, and more.
