Engine Expansion: Some of the new features

The Megamix engine has a bunch of features that make the complete development of a Mega Man game, like a currency and shop system, weapons, bosses, enemies, items, and more. But in the game H-Venture II, the Megamix engine is going to be pushed to it's absolute limit with a ton of new features never seen in a game made with this engine. This devlog post shows you five of the features that will be implemented in this game.

Changes to Player's Statistics: Instead of your health and energy (called TP) being a fixed value, the player can find a way to upgrade their stats. H not only starts out with sixteen H-Points (health) and twenty TP (energy), but can find upgrades to them throughout the game. These include EXP and the Health potion for HP, and Training for TP. With all of the upgrades, the player can have a maximum of 112 HP and 70 TP, helping them get through the game.

STAR letters and the Bonus Slot: Replacing the CD system is the STAR system. In each of the various levels, there are four letter tokens spelling out "STAR", hidden in tricky areas. Collecting these letters will not only give you bonus points and an H-GRADE bonus, but at least one of them can unlock the Bonus Slot feature at the end of the level, where you can have the chance to earn rewards such as extra lives, points, coins, and even continues.

A special Grading mechanic: H-Venture II grades the player's performance through the level with it's special grading mechanic called "H-GRADE". The mechanic rewards players for doing well, while punishing players for poor performance. H-GRADE is gained or lost depending on certain criteria throughout the level, and will reward the player bonus points and a rank depending on their skills throughout the level at the end of each one. Aim for the P rank!

Buffs and Shields: To help the player throughout their quest, two new mechanics are introduced to make traversing through tough stages a bit easier. Buffs allow the player to gain benefits like health regen, increased attack power, and reduced TP usage. You can get these by purchasing and using Potions from T's Bar. Shields allow the player to take reduced damage from their adversaries for a certain amount of hits. You can get these by purchasing Armor items.

H-Spell feature: To help with not only gaining new powers by collecting the H-Elements, there is also another feature called the "H-Spell" mechanic, which allows H to cast various spells like attack magic, defensive magic, and even healing magic as well! The player starts out with only five "Mahou Points", but can earn more by leveling up (up to five) and by purchasing the Arcane Knowledge item (up to five, by purchasing it up to five times), for up to fifteen. H can learn new spells over the course of the game.

And that's not all! Discover all of the different features when the H-Venture II game comes out soon!
