BIG CHANGE TO H-VENTURE 2 - Name Change, Game Engine and Mod change, etc.

It might seem surprising, but the development of H-Venture II is going through a remarkable change! This article will describe all of the changes that might be happening to the game.

What's with the name change?

For first, you might have realized that the name of the game has been changed from "H-Venture II" to "Mega H-Venture". Why I decided to rename this game is due to the various things the game will be doing, such as the Sega Genesis game music featured in the game and the Sega Genesis's color palette being used. Because of this, I decided to rename this game to "Mega H-Venture" to fit the 16-bit nature of the game.

The game has been changed to a game-mod! What is it?

Another big change is that the game does not use MAGMMLEZ anymore as a modification! The game is now a "game mod", meaning that it modifies an existing work. Sometimes game mods add more features to the mix! The mod in question is the game "Super Mario All Star Attack" by Stellar Synthesizer. This game is made with Game Maker 8.2. I will edit sprites, items, and level tiles, while also adding more features like a new system for extra lives in the form of experience points, a special Bonus Stage in the form of Whack-A-Mole, a "Star Mode" that gives a Life Bar to the player, and more. Development will start as soon as the full release is made, which might take a few months (or a year).

Now what is really Game Maker 8.2?

Game Maker 8.2 is in-fact, a mod of the old Game Maker 8.1, made in the year 2011, which is (at this time of writing), 13 years old! This mod allows the ancient software to gain modern quality of life features, such as a new room editor, audio system, allowing dragging files to the game window, and more. It also fixes a bunch of bugs with the old 8.1 to make it more enjoyable to use.

The future of Mega H-Venture

In terms of the new game mod, I will have to rework on various rules and systems, as well as rework the soundtrack. Now it might definitly have more than 161 songs now! Also, because of the game, you can even edit the externals! Change the BGM, Sprites, or even the code entirely! It's all yours once the game is released... somewhere in 2025.
